Seeing Through A Broken Mirror

When you look in the mirror do you like what you see? I sure do not. I always seem to focus on those areas that I think need improvement. I think I need to lose weight. I don't like my hair, my nose, freckles the list could go on. But you get the idea, we've all been there, we all have those things about us that we focus on and wish we could change.

But, what about your heart?

How many times have you "looked" into your heart and thought “I don't like what I see”?   I often think about how far I still have to go in the journey. I have so much growing up to do spiritually. I see all those areas that need improvement. I know the depths of sin I am capable of doing. I know the thoughts I think. The struggles with temptation I face. I see the ugliest parts of me. Somehow I do not believe I am alone.

We look in a mirror that is flawed. Broken.

As a child of God, does our Father see us that way? Who does God see when He looks at His children? We see with eyes that have learned to filter the wrong way. We usually filter out the good and keep the negative when it comes to looking inward.

What is the Truth? Who does God see?

He sees His Beloved~ As He says also in Hosea, "I WILL CALL THOSE WHO WERE NOT MY PEOPLE, `MY PEOPLE,' AND HER WHO WAS NOT BELOVED, `BELOVED (Rom 9:25)

He sees the one whom He Chose~ So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience (Col 3:12)

But you are A CHOSEN RACE, A royal PRIESTHOOD , A HOLY NATION, A PEOPLE FOR God's OWN POSSESSION, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; (1Pe 2:9)

He sees His bride~ "Let us rejoice and be glad and give the glory to Him, for the marriage of the Lamb has come and His bride has made herself ready (Re 19:7) .

He calls us holy ~but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior; because it is written, "YOU SHALL BE HOLY, FOR I AM HOLY." (1Pe 1:15,16)
There are so many references to who we are in Christ. When God looks at us He sees Christ! We are in the process of being transformed into His image. We need to see that we are becoming like Him.

God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. By this, love is perfected with us, so that we may have confidence in the day of judgment; because as He is, so also are we in this world (1 John 4:16,17)

Oh my precious sisters, we need to look in the mirror and see ourselves as God sees us. We need to remind one another of who we are in Christ. It is possible to see those areas that God is working on and yet allow our focus, our thoughts, be on who we are in Christ. I recognize that it's not always easy but together we can help one another. I can remind you and you can remind me of truth when we forget.

Yes, there is still work to be done, but He sees us with the eyes of eternity.
He looks at us with eyes of love. He sees us through Jesus. Let's not forget that!

Father I pray for each of my sister’s today that we all will see ourselves through the reflection of Your word today. Help us see an image that reflections who we truly are in Christ. I pray that we would be able to throw away our broken, flawed mirrors and walk confidently in who we are as daughters of the KING. Amen.
